Gary possesses extensive medical knowledge gained from over 40 years of a wide variety of medical experience and brings this to bear on the life problems brought to him by his patients. He takes a whole person approach to diagnosis and treatment and considers faith a major contributor to healing and awareness of a person’s relationship with God a factor to be explored. Gary’s guiding philosophy is that if a patient understands why a particular therapy is being recommended then the outcomes are much improved.
He is a retired US Air Force officer and his acumen and qualities enabled him to be hand-selected for a position in the White House Medical Unit in Washington, DC, serving from 1991 to 1994 providing direct medical care for the President, Vice President and their families. A native of California, Gary has lived in San Antonio since 1976 intermittently between different military assignments and steadily since 1994 after retiring from the Air Force.
His educational background is a BS in Physician Assistant studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and an MA in Social Gerontology from the University of the Incarnate Word. He has maintained national certification as a PA by board examination every 6 years since 1978.
Gary is the proud father of two daughters and the proud grandfather of two grandchildren. He and his wife have been happily married for 43 years. Gary’s colleagues have commented that they are impressed by his extensive background in medicine and feel that this gives him a “huge advantage” in seeing the big picture in providing holistic care. They commend him for an accomplishment that he would never brag about: that he was hand selected to serve at the White House as a Physician Assistant.
